"2014!"
January, 2014

This month totally got away from me as I write this blog on the last day of January! 2014 is off to a great start. My classes are full and it makes me really excited to see aspiring hosts taking their dreams seriously and putting things in motion for themselves.

This month I was hired by three different networks to coach their talent. For those of you who aren't in my classes and get to hear about my day-to-day activities, I am often hired by networks to coach people. Some networks have talent they want to work with to turn into hosts, others have experts that they need to learn to bring out their expertise in order to host a show. As I've said in a previous blog, experts are great hosts for shows because they bring a built-in knowledge to enhance the show. But many experts don't know how to host because they've spent all their time building their careers. So that's where I come in. I want them to stay true to who they are, but really own the fact that they are experts in their field. Most experts are humble and aren't out there shouting from the rooftops how great they are and how much they know. That's a pleasure... but I need them to be comfortable in showing the audience that they know what they're talking about. Many times I find that people who are often the loudest about what they do aren't necessarily the best.

I have a group of international students coming to Los Angeles next week to learn hosting for a week-long intensive thru the Hollywood Immersive Program. Hollywood Immersive is a fantastic program where aspiring hosts (and singers, actors, etc.) can come to LA and be completely immersed in the program. I spend 6 full days and nights with the hosts who stay in a luxurious home in the Hollywood Hills, have a private chef and a personal trainer who get them ready to work with me. This program isn't only for international students though - anyone in the U.S. can join. My fabulous business partner, Lilly Dawson, does a great job informing people all around the world about the program. Last year we taught several great hosts and I'm happy to say, they're pursuing their dreams and even booked jobs since. I can't wait to meet this new group. If you're interested in attending an upcoming Hollywood Immersive Program, you can email Lilly Dawson at [email protected].

Until next time, keep pursuing your dreams and practice, practice, practice!
